About Lucia
From Lucia: A personal journey with depression has driven my lifelong search for non-chemical methods to increase my personal happiness and sense of connection with the people in my life. I have been pursuing 12 Step Recovery since 2003 and I have completed all 12 Steps. My experience with God is very immediate and close. As a Spiritual Director, I do not have an agenda to promote any one faith tradition over others. Rather, my intention is to support you in your own personal faith journey. A Spiritual Director is someone who walks alongside you in your faith journey and supports you as you explore questions about life and God and faith. I was raised in a Quaker home with Buddhist and Jungian influences, and have experienced a variety of other expressions of Christianity including Positive Thought, Protestant Charismatic, and Roman Catholicism. I have been an active member of the FFWPU since 1975 and serve on the Education Committee of the Arizona Inter-Faith Council. I would consider it a privilege to engage in listening and sharing with you on any topics of spirituality, spiritual experiences, faith issues, and personal recovery and well-being that are of concern to you.

About John
“You are probably reluctant and even embarrassed to seek some help. But all of us face situations that are beyond our experience now and then. Whether it is in a key family or work relationship, or in our relationship to ourselves or God, having someone from outside to talk to can make a big difference, often faster than you could imagine.
“I believe that God designed us to live in a world of unconditional love. Such a world would make us powerful, fearless, joyful and secure in our importance and worth. But none of us live in that world. And so every day we are challenged right and left to do the responsible and loving thing, but without necessarily knowing what that looks like, or having enough resources of love and joy within ourselves.
“With enough acceptance, caring support and fresh ways of looking at things, you and God can handle anything. You are strong, smart and capable. My approach is one of coaching first, that is, looking for and building on your natural strengths. We will explore practical insights and skills to help you find your answers quickly.
“At the same time, if need be, I am skilled in helping you process old feelings and unhelpful thinking that are getting in your way and liberate you from painful past experiences. That’s when my expertise as a counselor kicks in.
“The challenges you now face may well be coming up to help you correct unhelpful patterns of behavior and heal old inner wounds. We’ll tackle them together.
“I understand from personal experience how anxiety, depression, problems with family and other issues can be a burden–compounded by guilt and shame over even having the issues! I also know how hard it can be to reach out and find effective help. And don’t worry—whatever it is, you are not alone and I have heard it before. I’ll make it easy for you to share. At the very least, let me advise you as to the options you have to face your challenge.”
John is a licensed Mental Health Counselor and has a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling. He is the owner of JohnRWilliams.org and Bulletproof Integrity.
