On May 21, the Las Vegas Family Church hosted a Parents Matching Preparation seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ten participants attended this one-day seminar, representing ten families from the community who are all in different stages of the matching process.
Presentations by John Abelseth, BFM Director of Canada, included the Family Matching Process, Matching Resources, and Deepening the Parent Child Relationship. These presentations were intended to provide a basic and fundamental introduction to the matching process for families. The presentations introduced the participating parents to various topics, including the process of the matching, how to get started, how to access the Matching Application, how to find other resources on the Blessing & Family Ministry website, how to enable their child to post a profile on various matching websites, as well as how parents can search for possible candidates.
Caleb and Yoriko, a newly-Blessed Canadian-Japanese Couple now living in Las Vegas, shared a testimony of their experiences in the matching process. One important point they made was that by following the matching process guidelines outlined in the Matching Handbook, they established a condition for Heaven to work in their relationship. The participating parents were moved tears by their testimony, as the young couple shared some of the challenges they faced and overcame together in their matching process
Following the Parents Matching Preparation seminar on Saturday, a Matching Advisor Training was held on Sunday afternoon. Six of the parents who attended the PMP were also trained as Matching Advisors, including Mrs. Song Doo, wife of the Las Vegas Family Church Rev. Kenneth Doo, and Mrs. Lydia Compton, the wife of Rev. Andrew Compton, who is the Divine Principle lecturer in Las Vegas.
