We were matched for engagement in January of 2014, a month before the Cosmic Blessing in Korea. Not having a lot of time before the actual Blessing, we weren’t really considering going to Korea, and were trying to decide whether to do the Blessing ceremony in Columbus, Ohio or in New York. But when it was pointed out to us that the Blessing fee is larger if you stay in America AND there is a scholarship for Americans traveling to Korea we realized it would cost the same to fly to Korea and get blessed as it would to just stay in the states. So we went to Korea to get the full experience.
We are extremely happy we did.
Arriving in Korea with all the other Western couples was exciting. We stayed in the ski resort along with hundreds of others, and spent the next day making all the necessary preparations for the ceremony. Both of us really liked the mass wedding experience, knowing that we were making this commitment to our family values along with thousands of other couples.
The aftermath of the Blessing was very well put together. Buses were provided to take the Western couples into Seoul, and we spent the day sightseeing. That evening, the staff had arranged for us to enjoy dinner all together at a nice restaurant, which brought a really nice close to our collective experience in Korea. We spent the next few days in Seoul as a couple; seeing the sights, visiting the markets, and just enjoying our honeymoon together . Going to Korea was very memorable, and we would encourage everyone planning on getting Blessed this March to make it out to Korea. Make it special, and enjoy the experience. It’ll be worth it.
As for life after the Blessing, we’ve loved every part of it. We’re coming up on our one year anniversary, and it has been a fun adventure. We recently bought a house, we’ve been working on a home-based business, and keeping up with our band, Taking the Hourglass. It’s been a year filled with excitement, change, and growth. The best part of our one year anniversary is it’s just the first of many. We’re excited to be an old married couple, looking back, remembering what it felt like to celebrate our first year together.
